Alpbachfall

AlpbachfallThe Alpbachfall is an impressive 80 meter high waterfall near Meiringen in the region Berner Oberland, Switzerland.

From Brienz drive to Meiringen and park the car somewhere near the train station. The waterfall Alpbachfall is located near the cable station of Meiringen. From the train station walk to the Sherlock Holmes museum and further east to the river. There go left towards the cable station. From the train station of Meiringen it is a 10 minute walk to the base of the waterfall. There is also a big parking near the cable station.

From the cable station you already can see the Alpbachfall thundering down. The river Alpbach drops down in two stages and is easy to access. The upper part has a vertical fall of about 50 meters.

Meiringen is famous because of the stories with Sherlock Holmes. But there are also very interesting waterfalls nearby. The most famous one, besides the Alpbachfall, is the Reichenbachfall on the other side of the valley (also in Meiringen).

I think Meiringen is the perfect location to spot waterfalls with a few of the best waterfalls you can visit: Aareschlucht wassefall, Rosenlauischlucht, Reichenbachfall and off cause the Giessbachfälle. There are many more others but these are the most impressive ones.
