Cascata di Riva
(Reinbach wasserfall, Reinbachfälle)
Cascata di Riva, also called Reinbach wasserfall or Reinbachfälle is a powerful waterfall near Campo Tures (Brunico) in the region Trentino – Alto Adige (Südtirol) in Northern Italy. Actually it are three waterfalls but the biggest one is the waterfall you see on pictures if you look for cascate di Riva.
There are three options to walk to Cascata di Riva/Reinbach wasserfall:
- The shortest option is to start from restaurant Toblhof. There is a parking aside of restaurant Toblhof (gps 46.919060, 11.983264) but the trailhead lies directly at restaurant Toblhof. A roundtrip to all three waterfalls takes only 1.5 km. You can see a description of the trail on wikiloc.
- The second option is to ascent from Bad Winkel, a suburb of Sand in Taufers. There is a nice parking at the trailhead (gps 46.914168, 11.970144) with a cafe next to it.
- The third option is to start from a parking along road 48, east of the waterfalls (gps 46.918397, 11.993846). From here you start descending slightly towards Cascata di Riva/Reinbach wasserfall.
The upper Reinsbach drops 50 meters and on the bridge you experience the power of the Cascata di Riva/Reinbach wasserfall. The two lower waterfalls have a height of 10 and 15 meters. If you count in the smaller part of the waterfall the total height is 115 meters.
The river Reinbach/Rio di Riva flows near the village Campo Tures/Sand in Taufers in the river Ahr and is fed by the glacial runoff at the Rieserferner and the water deposits that are formed at the Durreck. Just east of Campo Tures, at point Tobl the Reinbach tries to find its way through a ravine and forms three spectacular waterfalls. The force of the water is also used to generate electricity power.
