Miðfoss is a waterfall in the south of Iceland near Skógar. The river Skóga and surrounding is the number 1 waterfall region of Iceland with more then 37 waterfalls. Some small but most of them very powerful. Of course the Skógafoss is the highest, most powerful and most famous of all.

Miðfoss is together with Neðstifoss a twinfoss with a total height of appr. 25 meters and falls over a basalt cliff in the middle of a desolate landscape created by volcanos and covered by moss.

The source of the river Skóga lies in the highlands pass Fimmvörðuháls between the two glaciers Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull. The river Skóga is a medium powerful river but can flow heavily in some periods.
