Balbierbach wasserfall
(Balbierfall)
The Balbierfall (also called Balbierbach wasserfall) is a nice waterfall with a single drop of 17 meters. The Balbierbach wasserfall is located north of Gortipohl, just outside the urban area, in the region Vorarlberg, Austria.
From Bludenz (highway A14) take the exit to Montafon and Schruns. Continue driving to Gortipohl and there find your way to the church. There is a small parking east of the church (gps 47.009081, 10.001972)
From the parking, just walk to the west on the Alte Landstrasse until you reach the bridge over the river Balbierbach. You can approach the Balbierfall from both sides of the river, but walking along the west shore gives you a better view on the Balbierfall. On the way back you can cross the river and then descent on the other side of the river. We stayed in Sankt Gallenkirch February 2024 and our last day the sun was shining a little and it was quite warm, 13C. we decided to skip skiing and go for a walk to the Balbierfall. A short walk took us to the river and from here the path was going up to an altitude of 1.050 meter. The waterflow (for wintertime) was quite respectable. From the bridge over the waterfall and under the bridge you have a great view on the Balbierfall.
Best time to visit the Balbierfall is early summer when there is a lot of snow melting down from the mountains and the grass at the meadow is green.
