Scale force

Scale force is a beautiful waterfall with a single drop of 50 meters and a second/third drop of 6 meters in the middle of the woods in the Lake district. Scale force is located east of Buttermere (east of Keswick) in Cumbria, England (United Kingdom).

From Keswick drive south following the B5289 along Derwent water until you reach Buttermere (21 kilometer). West of Buttermere there is a car parking.

From the car park go west and cross Scale bridge, go right towards the lake. At the beginning there is a small trail to the left going directly to Scale Force or you can follow the main trail for 600 meters and then go left to Scale force. The walk over the main trail is about 3,5 kilometer long and takes about 50 minutes.

Force is derived from the Norwegian word foss which means waterfall.
