Strandanafossen
(Strandanåfossen)
The Hardangervidda is a popular area for hiking where Middalsbu (near Roldal) is a nice place to start from. There are dozens of small but beautiful rapids and waterfalls, often unnamed. One of them is the Strandanåfossen, just before Middalsbu at lake Valldalsvatnet. The river Strandanå falls down over a height of 85 meters and is fed by a small glacier Storfonn.
From Roldal take road 136 to the east for a few kilometers. At Nyastol take the exit into the Valldalen and follow the road until the lake ends. There you will see the Strandanåfossen at the left of the road.
