Cascade du Moulin d’Aval
Cascade du Moulin d’Aval is a small waterfall in the river Flumen southeast of Saint Claude in the region Franche Comte/Jura, France.
When driving on road D436 from Saint Claude to Geneve (Switzerland) there is a nice viewpoint (just before les Moulins) on the gorges du Flumen. Park the car here (gps 46.356793, 5.902464). When walking to the viewpoint, a little further up the road, you see a small path (gps 46.356755, 5.903101) going down to the river Flumen with some signs. One of them is sign to cascade du Moulin d’Aval.
In a few minutes you descent to the base of the waterfall. In a rainy period Cascade du Moulin d’Aval can turn into a wild waterfall but most of the time is a nice but ordinary waterfall.
A little further towards Geneve you see another waterfall at the left side of the road, le Chapeau de Gendarme. Very nice to see when there is water in the river. In summertime it runs dry.
