Partnach wasserfall

The Partnach wasserfall is an unofficial named waterfall south of Garmisch Partenkirchen, in the Reintal, region Bayern, Austria.

It is not easy to reach the Partnach wasserfall. The waterfall is NOT located in the Partnachklamm. You have to go a lot further upstream the river Partnach in the direction of the Reintalangerhütte (1.369 m).

In Garmisch Partenkirchen drive to the Ski-jump (sprungschanze) at the skiing area, near the train station. You can park your car here (gps 47.482578, 11.116840). From the parking you have to follow the river Partnach upstream for approximately 13 kilometer (ascend of 550 m/5,5 hours) in the direction of the Reintalangerhütte. Quite a long walk for a waterfall.

Another possibility is to rent an electric MTB bike in Garmisch Partenkirchen. This will reduce the travel time significantly (2h00 minutes). The path can be narrow and most of the time you are biking on gravel.

The Partnach wasserfall can be quite impressive early in the season when there is a lot of snow melting down from the mountains. Maybe also after heavy rainfall. I think later in the season the waterfall almost runs dry.

If you have time left you also can visit the beautiful Parnachklamm (a gorge), but you have to pay admission for it. The gorge is open all year around. The entrance is located near Wildenau.
There is a low volume waterfall in the gorge that freezes in wintertime, very beautiful to see.

North of Garmisch Partenkirchen, in Frachant, you will find another beautiful gorge with some amazing waterfalls, the Kuhflucht wasserfälle. Worthwhile to visit, easy to reach and there is no admission!
