On may way to the waterfall Le Voile de la Mariée in Parc national de Ecrins (Haute Alpes in France) I came by this big waterfall, Cascade du Casset.
Cascade du Casset is located along road D480. From N85 at Saint Firmin take road D985a to La Chapelle-en-Valgaudémar. From here the road is called D480. Just after Chapelle-en-Valgaudémar at the left side first Cascade de Combefroide shows up and 3,5 kilometers Cascade du Casset shows up at the left.
Cascade du Casset is a powerful waterfall that drops down over appr. 150 meters in multiple stages. The waterfall is most of the time nice to see but not very impressive.
Best time to visit Cascade du Casset is early summer or summer. Cascade du Casset is being fed by melted ice from the glaciers above on an altitudes above 3.000 meter.
