The Wildensteiner wasserfall is a gorgeous waterfall south of Wildenstein (Gallizien) in the region Kärnten, Austria.
From gasthaus zum Wildensteiner wasserfall it is a 20-30 minute walk to the 54 meter high, single drop, waterfall in a beautiful environment. The start of the trail is easy but soon gets steeper. In front of the Wildensteiner wasserfall there is a wooden platform with a good view on the waterfall.
Behind the waterfall there is small cave from which you have a terrific photogenic view on the Wildensteiner wasserfall.
Best time to visit the Wildensteiner wasserfall is in the morning. The Wildensteiner wasserfall falls towards the north-norheast, so most of the day the waterfall will be in the shade.
The Wildensteiner wasserfall is named after a ruin up at the waterfall called “Wildenstein”. It once was a nice castle but after an earthquake in 1348 the castle was destroyed.
Although the Wildensteiner wasserfall is one of the highest single drop waterfall in the region Kärnten it is still quit unknown by tourists.
