Hinterer Maralmfall

(Maralmbachfall)

MaralmbachfallThe Hinterer Maralmfall or Maralmbachfall is tall waterfall in the Maltatal in the region Kärnten, Austria.

The Hinterer Maralmfall is located further into the Maltatall, along the Malta hochalm strasse, just before the tunnel. You have to pay €20 for a car to enter the Malta hochalm strasse.
There is a traffic light at the tunnel because it is a one lane tunnel. In the meantime you can walk up to the base of the Maralmbachfall. There is a countdown clock so you will know when the tunnel is open.

From highway A10 it is a 21 kilometer drive into the Maltatal before you reach the Maralmbachfall.

It is quit remarkable that there isn’t much information available about the Maralmbachfall. When I look at the pictures it looks like a great waterfall with a significant amount of water flowing in the early season. In summertime the waterflow of the river Hinterer Maralmbach is reduced to a small stream.

The Maralmbachfall plunges down over appr. 150 meters and ends in the river Malta. The origin of the Maralmbachfall lies up at the mountain Kärschneideck (2.972 meter).

The Maltatal is one of my favorite valleys because of the numerous beautiful waterfalls. Other nice waterfalls in the Maltatal are: Fallbachfall, Gossfalle, Melnikfall and the Schleierfall.
