Cascade de la Fare

Cascade de la Fare is a tall waterfall in Vaujany, east of Grenoble, in the region Isere, France.

From Grenoble follow the D5>D1091 to le Bourg d’Oisans. Before le Bourg d’Oisans turn left to Lac Verney and Vaujany (D526). From the Telecabine you can see Cascade de la Fare from a distance.

Cascade de la Fare is one the highest waterfalls in France. The upper part of Cascade de la Fare is 200 meters high and the lower part is also 200 meters high. With a total of 400 meters (maybe a little bit higher) Cascade de la Fare is in the top 10 of highest waterfalls in France.

There is a trail going up along Cascade de la Fare starting at the parking (gps 45.157653, 6.078318) at the Telecabine. From the parking walk (over the road) northeast back to Vaujany for 400 meters until there is a bridge. After the bridge go right following the river, walking towards Cascade de la Fare for a better view.

There is also a trail going to the base of Cascade de la Fare from the village of “La Villette”. This hike takes 50 min (1.4 km).
