Cascade de Sarenne
(Cascade Ravin de la Tire)
Cascade de Sarenne or Cascade Ravin de la Tire is a nice little waterfall near the foot of the mountain Alpe d’Huez in le Bourg-d’Oisans, Hautes Alpes, France.
Alpe d’Huez is very popular for cycling. Cycling up the Alpe d’Huez is almost every year a stage in the biggest cycle contest of the world, the Tour de France.
When climbing the Alpe d’Huez you can start in le Bourg-d’Oisans at campingsite “La cascade”, a nice little camping next to Cascade de Sarenne. From the camping it is a few minutes walk to the base of Cascade de Sarenne.
Although signs warn to be careful because the flow of the river suddenly can rise it is a nice place for a swim at warm weather. Probably we shouldn’t do that but swimming at a waterfall is always very attractive.
Best time to visit Cascade de Sarenne is late spring or early summer when the flow of the river Sarenne is more powerful.
Next to the waterfall there is a pipeline and a Hydraulic center, so probably the water flow is reduced for generating power.
