Cascata del Dentro

Cascata del Dentro is a hidden gem among all those beautiful waterfalls in Valle Maggia, Switzerland. I love Valle Maggia because of the many gorgeous waterfalls, the beauty of nature, the atmosphere and the valley is famous because of their typical built houses.
Cascata del Dentro (an unofficial named waterfall) is located in the Hamlet Aurigeno, close to Maggia. You can park your car in Aurigeno at gps 46.231948, 8.712062.
The trailhead lies a little west at gps 46.232513, 8.709353. Although you can’t call it a trail, because it is only a short walk to the waterfall (350 meter from the parking). From the trailhead you have to walk to the river Dentro but almost directly go left (before the bridge). From there you have to find your way to Cascata del Dentro.
When I was visiting the waterfall July 2024, a month earlier a disaster happened in the valley. Extreme rainfall caused landslides and big damage in the valley, with several casualties. ValleMaggia, from Cevio, was closed for traffic and the damage was also visible at the waterfall. The trail was gone and there was no trail anymore to the the waterfall. So I only could admire the waterfall from a distance.
