Cascata di Stanghe
(Stanghe wasserfall, Gilfenklamm)
Cascata di Stanghe or Stanghe wasserfall is a 15 meter high waterfall in a canyon called Gilfenklamm. Cascata di Stanghe/Stanghe wasserfall is located southwest of the hamlet Stanghe/Ratschings in the region Trentino – Alto Adige, Italy.
From Sterzing take road SS44 to Gasteig/Casateia and there turn right to Stanghe/Ratschings. In Stanghe turn left to Valle di Racines (there is also a small sign “eingang Gilfenklamm”). Drive on to Gasthof Jaufensteg where at the left side of the road is a small parking (gps 46.875038, 11.358307) and some information signs. This is the entrance of the Gilfenklamm.
April 2019 I wanted to visit Cascata di Stanghe (Stanghe wasserfall). I parked my car at the parking end I walked down to the entrance. Unfortunately I was a week to early. The entrance was barricaded…. The Gilfenklamm is only open from May to October at daytime (9-17 h).
You have to pay an entrance fee of €4 for an adult or €2 for children. The walk through the Gilfenklamm that runs along Cascata di Stanghe (Stanghe wasserfall) takes appr. 1 hour one way and is 2,5 km long. The altitude difference is 175 meter. Not far from the entrance at Jaufensteg you will find Cascata di Stanghe (Stanghe wasserfall).
It is also possible to start from Stanghe/Ratschings, there is also an entrance.
Cascata di Stanghe (Stanghe wasserfall) is a nice waterfall with a drop of 15 meter which best can be visited in summertime.
