Cascata Plera
Cascata Plera is a scenic waterfall with a height of appr 20 meters, south of Villa Santina, in the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy.
From, Villa Santina drive east (in the direction of Tolmezzo) over road SS52 and after a short while turn right to Invillino. Follow the signs Verzegnis and drive onto the river, cross the bridge. A little further you can park your car at the trailhead to Cascate Pleris (gps 46.402318, 12.930597). From here it is a 5-10 minute walk to a viewpoint and a picnic spot.
Most of the year Cascata Plera is dry because the stream is diverted for generating power. In summertime and after heavy rainfall the stream flows. With enough water in the river Plere, Cascata Plera is a gorgeous and scenic waterfall.
In front of the waterfall, a wooden pedestrian bridge is the perfect spot to take pictures and to enjoy the view.
Nearby in Villa Santina you can find another gorgeous waterfall, Cascata Radime. This is one of the nicer waterfalls in Italy and worthwhile to visit.
