Kleppafoss
Kleppafoss is a waterfall in the West of Iceland along road 52/512, East of the crossing with road 512. Kleppafoss is one of the many waterfalls in the river Grimsá.
To get to Kleppafoss you first have to take road 52, take road 512, after 1 kilometer you cross the river Grimsá, there is a small road to the right to the farm Oddstaðir. After 2 kilometers the road ends, but you are near the first waterfall Hrisbrekkafoss. From here you have to follow the river Grímsá for 2,5 kilometers. I am not sure if you can cross a side river at the Kleppagilsfoss. Another possibility is to start from the southside of the river from the farm Brautartunguholt, sideway of road 52. Or walk from the farm Tungufell in Lundarreykjardalur for 5 kilometers following the river Grímsá.
From Oddstaðir it is possible to ride horses. The farm alsoparticipates in the project “Vesturlandsskógar” and is planting new trees every year to minimize CO2 while the trees also provide shelter against the wind. Oddsstaðir are active in “Bændur græða landið” which is a project that takes place all over Iceland where qualified and willing farmers work to protect the sensitive land.
The first waterfall East of Oddstaðir is Hrisbrekknafoss, following the river you will get by Jotnabruarfoss, Kleppagilsfoss, Kleppafoss I-II-III, Selsmyrarfoss, Kerlingafoss, Kalfgilsfoss/Englandsfoss, Breiðifoss, Lambárfoss and Sellfoss, all within 8 kilometers. Probably these are small waterfalls.
