Stock Ghyll Force

Stock Ghyll Force is a nice waterfall in the village of Ambleside near Ullswater, in the lake district, region Cumbria, England, United Kingdom.

From the city centre of Ambleside it is a 20-25 minute walk to Stock Ghyll Force. There is a central car park at Rydal road. From the Salutation hotel a small roads leads to a small sign “to the waterfall”. Here you first see a small manmade waterfall. Here you have to follow the trail upstream until you arrive at Stock Ghyll Force. There are several ways to approach the waterfall but this seems the quickest way.

Stock Gyll Force is a 21 meter high twin fall (sometime triple stream) in the river Stock Gyll, a tribute of the river Rothay. It seems that Stock Ghyll Force has a consistent flow all year around with some more volume after a rainy period
