The Tätschbachfall is one of the taller waterfalls of Switzerland and is located near Engelberg in the region Obwalden.
The waterfall is very easy to reach and lies directly behind a restaurant with the applicable name «restaurant wasserfall» not far from the cable station «Furenalp bahn». From Stans (road 2) take the exit to Engelberg and continue to Engelberg. There you have to go right following the signs «Furenalp» and «wasserfall». You can park your along the road near the restaurant (gps 46.805106, 8.446154).
Behind the restaurant you the Tätschbachfall drops down from an immense height. Follow the path along the river until you reach the lower part of the waterfall. The Tätschbachfall was and is a powerful and impressive waterfall (if examining all those ancient postcards of the waterfall). The Griessen glacier at the mountain Wissigstock (2.887 m) was bigger years ago but during my visit July 2021 the waterfall was still very powerful. It was slightly raining and the path to the base of the waterfall was slippery but I still enjoyed this waterfall.
It is still a nice waterfall that best can be visited early summer. The Tätschbachfall drops down over several stages but the lower part has the tallest single drop. Total height is somewhere near the 300 meter.
There are several other waterfalls in the valley. At the end of the Engelberg valley (Engelebergertal) the beautiful waterfall Stäuber is thundering down. To get there it needs a firm hike.
