Cascata da Rocha de Água d’Alte is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Portugal, certainly after a rainy period. The waterfall is located near Brunheiras (Vila Nova de Milfontes) in the region Beja at the west coast of Portugal.
From Vila Nova de Milfontes it is only a 15 minute drive and from Lisbon a two hour drive.
When driving east from Vila Nova de Milfontes to Cercal (road N390) turn right just outside Brunheiras (near the busstop at the left side of the road – gps 37.763718, -8.743634). At a crossing (near the edge of the woodlands) take the middle road. Drive further and keep a little right. There is a small parking almost at the bottom of Cascata da Rocha de Água d’Alte (gps 37.751515, -8.719670). A short walk takes you to the bottom of the waterfall.
Cascata da Rocha de Água d’Alte has a 30 meter single drop and is located in a green surrounding. Best time to enjoy this gorgeous waterfall is after a rainy period. In summertime the flow of the river runs almost dry.
