Aberdulais waterfall

Aberdulais FallsThe Aberdulais waterfall is a small but very powerful waterfall in the town of Aberdulais in south Wales (United Kingdom).

When driving on road 465 from Swansea to Merthyr, take the exit Aberdulais. There are already signs “seven sisters A4109”. After a few hundred meters you see the entrance of the “Aberdulais Tinworks and Waterfalls” park. There is a parking opposite of the entrance but in 2022 and 2023 the park was under construction and you couldn’t enter the park. I am not sure of the park and the acces to the waterfall will open on short notice????

At the bridge (left of teh entrance) you can see (from a distance) the river Dulais plunging down over sandstone rocks before it ends in the river Neath. The Aberdulais waterfall is only 4 meter high but is nice to see. When we visited the waterfall in the summer of 2023 it had rained the weeks before and the waterfall was very powerful.

At the waterfall there is a big power wheel generating electricity. Since 1584 the wheel is in use and power has been drawn for manufacturing copper. If you want to know more about the history of the location, you can visit the website of the nationaltrust.

Nearby there are several great waterfalls you can visit. I love all the waterfalls at Pontneddfechan (the four waterfall walk is a must to do>see Sgwd Yr Eira Waterfall) or the Melincourt waterfall or the amazing Henrhyd waterfall, to many to mention them all.
