Bunderfälle

(Lohnerfälle)

The Bunderfälle, also known as the Lohnerfälle, is a tall waterfall with a height of 80-150 meter near the village of Adelboden in the region Berner Oberland, Switzerland.

Adelboden is a well know ski village but in summertime all the snow is melting down the mountains creating numerous small streams. The Bunderfälle is one of the named waterfalls coming down from the mountain Gross Loner with a highest peak of 3.049 m. It is not a very powerful waterfall but nevertheless nice to see situated in a beautiful surrounding.

When driving to Adelboden turn left at the first roundabout, just before the city centre. Turn left directly after the bridge and follow the narrow road (Bonderlenstrasse) for 2 km until the road splits in two. The road going right has a red sign “prohibited for cars”. Park the car at the parking and take the right road, walking towards the Bunderfälle. You already can see the waterfall in the distance. After 10-15 minutes you reach the base of the waterfall.

Best time to visit the Bunderfälle is early summer, in the afternoon.

Nearby, also in Adelboden you can find one of the most beautiful waterfalls of Switzerland, the Engstligenfall.
