Cascadas de Molinieto

Cascadas de Molinieto is a waterfall in “Parque Nacional De Ordesa Y Monte Perdido” in the region Aragon-Huesca, Spain. The national park of Ordesa is heaven for people who love chasing waterfalls. There are so many beautiful waterfalls that I didn’t visited them all (yet).

There are several ways to go to cascadas de Molinieto:
1) Take the bus to the park entrance and walk back to Torla along the river Arazas. After 5,5 km cascadas de Molinieto is the last major waterfall in the river you will see.
2) Walk from Torla to cascadas de Molinieto, a 4 km walk.
3.) Hike to the roundabout at puente de los Navarros. From here it is a short walk (5-10 minutes) to the waterfall. You even can walk further to the park entrance passing 2 other great waterfalls.

Cascada de Molinieto is one of the many waterfalls in the river Rio Arazas and is one of the first waterfalls you see, before you enter Parque Nacional de Ordesa. We discovered Cascada de Molinieto 4 kilometer before the park entrance along the road. I am not sure how we discovered the waterfall because the road is very narrow and there is hardly an opportunity to stop.

I am not a 100% sure the pictures I published are Cascada de Molinieto because the river has so many small drops, but I think so. Cascada de Molinieto is appr. 10 meter heigh and can be very wild late spring and early summer.

Next time I am visiting Ordesa valley I want to hike from Torla to the park entrance and the take the bus back. After Cascada de Molinieto there are several waterfalls showing up:  Cascada de Turieto,  Cascada de Tomborrotera and Cascada de los Abetos. This is a hike of appr 13 km, I guess it will take 3-3,5 hours.

From the park entry Parque Nacional De Ordesa Y Monte Perdido you can make several walks. We followed the river Arazas to the end of the valley where the big Cascada de la Cola de Caballo can be admired. On the way you will see several other waterfalls: Cascada de Cotatuero (from a distance), Cascada de Arripas, Cascada del Estrecho/Cascada de la Cueva, Gradas de Soasa and several other small or unnamed falls. This walk take appr. 6,5 hours (roundtrip) including many photo stops and a lunch.
