Cascade de l’Arpenaz

Cascade de l'ArpenazCascade de l’Arpenaz is one of the tallest waterfalls in France. The waterfall Cascade de l’Arpenaz is located north of Sallanches and can be seen from highway A40.

In Sallanches take the exit 20 to Annecy and at the end of the exit follow the signs Luzier. You already can see the waterfall in the distance.

In Luzier go left following the signs to Cascade de l’Arpenaz. Park the car near the waterfall and walk toward Cascade de l’Arpenaz.

With a free fall of 270 meters and a total height of 360 meters Cascade de l’Arpenaz is one of the highest waterfalls in France. The waterfall is not very spectacular but nice to see. A nice place for a picnic.

The name “Arpenaz” is derived from the Celtic prefix “Ar” which means white water and the Celtic suffix “pen” which means rocky head.
