Cascade du Dechargeux

Cascade du Dechargeux is a waterfall near Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval in the Haute Savoie, France.

From Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval take road D29 to the south that runs along the big Cascade du Rouget. At Salvagny (after 1,1 km from Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval) turn right and drive onto the river. Park the car at the parking near the bridge (gps 46.043231, 6.764627).

From the parking: cross the river and follow the trail up to the waterfalls. Soon you see two waterfalls: at the left Cascade du Dechargeux and at the right Cascade Saubaudy. The walk takes about 10 minutes to the first viewpoint.

You also have a great view from the main road (D29) just before Salvagny. If you want to see more waterfalls you can drive further into the valley until the road ends. From the parking (Lignon) an easy trail runs to the gorgeous twinfall Cascade de la Pleureuse and Cascade de la Sauffaz. If you like a longer walk you can follow the river Sales upstream until you see cascade de Sales.

In the area of Sixt Fer a Cheval there are so many great waterfalls to many to mention but a visit that impressed me was the one to “Cirque du Fer-à-Cheval”. Here a dozen waterfalls are coming down over hundreds of meters.
