Cascata di Sa Spendula
Cascata di Sa Spendula is the tallest waterfall on the isle of Sardegna, Italy. Cascata di Sa Spendula is located near Villacidro (and therefore sometimes named Cascata Villacidro), northwest of Cagliari.
The waterfall is easy to reach from Villacidro. Driving northwest over road Via Sa Spendula you will see a big parking at the left side of the road (gps 39.468986, 8.725347). From the parking a path leads down to the waterfall in only a few minutes.
If you like hiking you can park your car at Cantina Ferraris (gps 39.399795, 8.649204). Leaving from Cantina Ferraris, Cascata di Sa Spendual can be reached by taking a long and pleasant hike that runs along the river Cannisoni and leads to canale Monincu and the river Linas where Cascata di Sa Spendual is located.
Cascata di Sa Spendula cascades down over three steps and has a total height of 72 meters. The highest drop is appr. 30 meters. The waterfall is a low volume waterfall and doesn’t flow all year around. In summertime the river Coxinas runs dry.
There are many other smaller waterfall in the area like Cascata Piscina Irgas (near Cantina Ferraris), Cascata di Muru Mannu and Cascata S’Ega Sitzoris.
