Cascate di Stroppia
Cascate di Stroppia is one of the tallest waterfalls in Italy with a total descent of appr 320 meters and is an official named waterfall.
Cascate di Stroppia is located at the end of Valle Maira (Cuneo) in the region Piemonte, Italy. From Cuneo you have to take road SP422 to Dronero>Ponte Maira>Chiappera. This is a 65 kilometer drive and takes 1,5 hours by car. After Chiappera you have to follow the road to Rifugio Campo Base. Just before the camping site you cross a small bridge. At your left you can park your car along the road (gps 44.498613, 6.919231).
Near the bridge you just crossed you already see a wooden sign with “cascate Stroppia” and a wooden information house/sign. From here a trail/private road leads upstream the river heading north to Rifugio di Stroppia. It a 20 minute walk to the base of Cascate delle Stroppia. From here you can walk further on to Rifugio di Stroppia along the waterfall with several good viewpoints.
In June Cascate di Stroppia gets more powerful and then is very impressive to see.
