Falls of Kirkaig
The falls of Kirkaig is a very powerful waterfall east of Inverkirkaig (63 kilometers north of Ullapool) in the northeast of Scotland (United Kingdom).
From Ullapool take the A835 north to Ledmore, go to the A837 and follow the road until you reach Inverkirkaig. Drive further along the river Elder’s Pool until there is a sharp bend to the right and you cross the river Kirkaig, here is a car park.
From the car park it is a 4 kilometer trail (50-60 minutes), at the north side of the river, that leads to the magnificent falls of Kirkaig. The river Kirkaig thunders down, in a single drop, over 18 meters. Further down the trail you will find the mountain Suilven.
Kirkaig is derived from old Norwegian and means “place where church is”.
