Schleierfall (Bockstein)
The Schleierfall is one of the many waterfalls at the Gasteiner Alpenstrasse when heading to Sportgastein in the region Salzburg, Austria. There are two possibilities to visit all waterfall:
– Park the car at the parkinglot, just right (Evianquelle) before the tolroad to Sportgastein begins. The hike into the valley takes appr. 60 minutes one way and takes you along beautiful views and several names and unnamed waterfalls.
– Take the tolroad to Sportgastein
The Kesselfall is the first waterfall that comes across in the Gasteinertal and can be found at the right side of the road (3,6 kilometers from Bochstein), just after the Astenalm.
At the Kesselfall you already can see the Schleierfall from a distance. The Schleierfall ia appr. 80 meters high, but because it is a low volume waterfall not very impressive.
Best time to visit the Schleierfall in the Gasteinertal is late spring or early summer, in the afternoon. Maybe it is even better to visit the Schleierfall after heavy rainfall. The Schleierfall is being fed by a lake “Unterer Bockhartsee”. When the lake is full it flows over the edge of a cliff creating a waterfall: The Schleierfall.
Nearby there are also three other beautiful waterfalls; Bad Gasteinerfall, Kesselfall and the Barenfall.
