Skyrfoss
(Jervfoss)
The Skyrfoss is a tiny but high waterfall near Solsnes, part of the municipality Odda/Hordaland at the Sorfjorden. Although it is lying along road 550 the view is better from the other side of the fjord.
The Skyrfoss is fed by one of the biggest glaciers in Norway Folgefonna. The river Skyrfosselvi drops down over 235 meters, right into the Sorfjorden. The lower part of the Skyrfoss is called the Jervfoss.
Skyrfoss is one of the many waterfalls in the Hardanger fjord, just next to the huge Aednafossen. When driving on road r13 there is a small sideway, just before the Stanatunnelen. From there you have a great view on the fjord, the Skyrfoss and the Aednafoss.
The Odda region is one of the best places for spotting the highest, the most beautiful and the highest number of waterfalls in a relative small area. These are the best ones: Låtefossen, Espelandsfossen, Langfoss, Vidfoss, Aednafossen, Strondsfossen, Tjørnadalsfossen, Skrikjofossen, Nyastølfossen, Nykkjesøyfossen, Tveitafossen, Søtefossen and Vøringsfossen.
