Talbach wasserfall

The Talbach wasserfall is a 32 meter high waterfall near Zell am Ziller in the region Tirol Austria. The waterfall is easy to reach and it is a perfect (short) trip if you like waterfalls and scenic views.

Just outside Zell am Ziller you can park your car at a nice medium big parking (gps47.22536, 11.86372) which is also the start of a klettersteig. You can start your day (or end) with a nice drink or meal at restaurant Talbachstüberl, with a gorgeous view and a great rating.

From the parking walk back to the road and follow the road up. The road/path to the Talbach wasserfall is marked and easy to find. Some parts of the path are a little steep but easy to do. After 15-20 minutes you reach a stair that goes down to a viewpoint on the Talbach wasserfall. I am afraid this is the only good view you get or you have to do the klettersteig trail…..

The Talbach wasserfall thunders down over two stages. The biggest one is the one at the viewpoint and is 20 meters high. You can make a few pictures here but in teh summer of 2024 I was disappointed there weren’t any other good viewpoints. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the Talbach wasserfall and I think it is a nice trip when you are staying in the Zillertal.

If you want you can make a roundtrip back to the car following the stairs down. This is a little longer but it must be possible.

There are a few other nice waterfall you can visit in the Zillertal: the Stillup wasserfall at the stausee, the Laimacher wasserfall or the Keilkeller wasserfall. All close to each other.
