Schlitterer wasserfall

(Schlitterfall, Schlitters wasserfälle, Öxlbach Wasserfall)

The Schlitterer wasserfall (Öxlbach wasserfall) is a nice and powerful waterfall near the village Schlitters in the region Tirol, Austria. It is an unknown and non marked waterfall you have to know it exists.

In the summer of 2024 I decided to check out the Schlitterer wasserfall when the worst nightmare happened: I left my car key in the back of the car at the moment I wanted to go to the waterfall… Luckily my wife had a spare key but she was in Achenkirch in our apartment. A nice neighbor gave her a lift but I wasn’t that happy that day. In teh meantime I was walking to the waterfall but I needed my map to know where I should go. At the base of the waterfall I only saw a small drop and a tiny part of the top. There isn’t another path so I think you have to climb your way up the river to see the rest of the waterfall (I saw photo’s of the Schlitterer wasserfall in total). But I was still angry on myself and had to go back to my car for my spare car key.

The walk wasn’t as easy as I expected. From a parking along the road near the trailhead (gps 47.37618, 11.83713) it took me at least 20 minutes to the base of the Schlitterer wasserfall (Öxlbach Wasserfall). I didn’t made any notes, so it is an estimation. The path goes up, some parts a little steep but it isn’t a difficult walk. I only don’t know how to walk the last part.

Difficult to say when the best time is to visit the Schlitterer wasserfall (Öxlbach Wasserfall): I guess in the early summer at midday or the early afternoon.
