Untersulzbachfall
(Sulzbachfall)
The Unterzulzbachfall (Sulzbachfall) is an amazing waterfall at Sulzau in the region Salzburg, Austria.
From Sulzau take the turn to Untersulzbach until you have reached the end of the road. There is enough parking space at a sort of restaurant (gps 47.236524, 12.261700). From the parking it is a short walk (8 minutes) to a good viewpoint, keep left off the waterfall. The path goes up but never get very steep. Unfortunately I was at Unterzulzbachfall midday and the the sun was standing exactly above the waterfall. Not very good for taking nice pictures…..
July 2022 was the second time I visited the Unterzulzbachfall and the waterfall still was very powerful. A shame that the viewing point was overgrowing with vegetation, but that makes it more natural. Because of an injury of my leg (I am getting old) I returned from the first viewing point.
It is also possible to make a roundtrip in a beautiful surrounding in approximately 50 min, getting to a viewpoint at the other side of the river.
The river Untersulzbach drops down in a single drop over 50 meters but is in total 110 meters high. In summertime the Unterzulzbachfall is an amazing powerful waterfall and one of the better waterfalls in Austria.
The origin of the Unterzulzbachfall lies at one the highest mountains in Austria, the Grosvenediger (3.657 meters) and is part of the National park Hohe Tauern. The Grosvediger is surrounded by several small glaciers which feeds the Untersulzbach. Best time to visit the Unterzulzbachfall (Sulzbachfall) is in summertime.
West of the Unterzulzbachfall (Sulzbachfall) you will find the biggest and most beautiful waterfall in Austria, the Krimmler wasserfälle. Also west of the Unterzulzbachfall (Sulzbachfall) there is a valley with three gorgeous waterfalls, the Obersulbachtal. Here you will find one of the highest waterfall in Austria, Seebachfall and two other nice waterfalls: Foissbachfall and Gamseckfall.
Thank you for the info. Thanks to it, I opened this waterfall to myself and explored the area around.
It is easy accessible and the way around just awesome!!!
