Valagil (Súðavíkurhreppur)

The Valagil waterfall is an unknown waterfall located in the Westfjord of Iceland, at the end of the fjord Álftafjörður.

Driving on road 61 from Hólmavík to Ísafjörður you drive along the Álftafjörður. At the end of the fjord there is a small dust road. Park the car somewhere here. There is a blue square sign walking trail.

The hike goes southwest and the trail is 2 kilometer long. Although the hike is flat it will take appr. 35-45 minutes. There is a little wooden sign pointing to Valagil at the trailhead. When walking into the valley, along the river  Seljalandsa you can see the Valagil waterfall in the far distance.

Near the waterfall you have a nice view on the canyon with the Valagil waterfall from the wooden bridge over the river.
