Janet’s Foss

Janet’s Foss is a nice waterfall near Malham, north of Skipton, in the Yorkshire Dales, England (United Kingdom).

Driving west from Skipton on road A65 take the exit at Coniston Cold to Malham. In Malham go right to Gordale and park the car near the end of the road, just before the camping ground.

A little bit back you can walk to the river where Janet’s foss is located. Foss is the Norwegian word for waterfall. Janet’s Foss drops down over appr 5 meter and can be very nice after a rainy period.

Back at the camping site you also can walk to another waterfall Gordale Scar. You have to open the wooden fence and follow the path over the camping site. After 1,5 km (20 minutes) you reach the beginning of the ravine where you already see Gordale Scar waterfall.

The ravine contains two waterfalls: the lower Gordale Scar waterfall is a double drop with a height of  appr 40 meter. The upper Gordale Scar waterfall is a single drop of appr. 7 meter.

From the bottom you can walk up and follow the path along the ravine. Gordale Scar waterfall isn’t always very voluminous but after a period of rainfall on it’s best.
