Bad Gasteinerfall

(Gasteinerfall, Gasteiner ache wasserfall)

Bad Gasteinerfall, also named Gasteinerfall or Gasteiner ache wasserfall, is a powerful waterfall in the city center of Bad Gastein in the region Salzburg in Austria. From Salzburg follow motorway A10 to the south and at Bischofshofen take road 311 to Pongau/Taxenbach. After 25 kilometers take road 167 to Bad Gastein. You can’t miss the Bad Gasteinerfall waterfall.

The Bad Gasteinerfall is easy accessible and has several good viewpoint. The Bad Gasteinerfall waterfall falls towards the south (small part to the west) and can best be visited midday. Best season to visit the Bad Gasteinerfall is early summer, although the pictures I took look impressive enough, but were taken in april-may.

The river Gasteiner ache cascades down over 180 meters, in 3 stages, and it is one of the bigger waterfalls in Austria. The first big drop of the Bad Gasteinerfall can be viewed from the bridge at the north of the picturesque village of Bad Gastein. From the bridge there is a road that almost follows the Bad Gasteinerfall. At the south of Bad Gastein there is a little park where you have a good view on the biggest drop (56 meters) of the Bad Gasteinerfall.

There are three other nice waterfalls nearby in Bockstein/Sportgastein (10 kilometers-15 minutes): Kesselfall, Schleierfall and Bärenfall.
