Cascade de Seythenex
Cascade de Seynthenex is a gorgeous waterfall at the village Seythenex in the region Rhone Alpes/Haute Savoie, France.
Cascade de Seythenex is perfect for a day trip when staying in the area of Lac d’Annecy (40 minutes by car). From Annecy drive south along the lake in the direction of Faverges (road D1508). Just for Faverges, at the roundabout, follow the signs Seythenex. Outside Faverges there are already signs for “Grotte et cascade”. There is a free parking at the entrance
You have to pay admission (6-8 euro) but a visit worthwhile. A short walk takes you to along the gorge in a perfect scenery with beautiful vegetation and a gorgeous waterfall. It also possible to visit the caves of Seythenex but I read that it was a small cave (we skipped the visit to the cave).
Cascade de Seynthenex has two stages with a total height of 45 meters. The average flow of the river Saint Ruph is 2,81 m3/s but in springtime the volume increases very much. The pictures are taken in the month May.
A long time ago we were on holiday at the south side of the Lac d’Annecy (at Doussard). From Doussard Cascade de Seythenex was only a 20 minute drive.
There are a few other waterfalls around lac d’Annecy but most of them are quite unknown. Cascade d’Angon and Cascade du Saut du Moine are directly located at the lake at the eastside near Talloires.
