Cascade de Sillans (also written as Sillans la cascade) is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in France. The waterfall is located at a small village called Sillans-la-Cascade in the region Alpes-Cote d’Azur/Var. The waterfall is only a 60 minute drive away from the coast and lies south from Parc naturel régional du Verdon.
In some Internet lists Cascade de Sillans belong to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in France. If you see the pictures of Cascade de Sillans you would think it is located in a tropical country. Cascade de Sillans is a 42 meter high, twin waterfall that drops into an emerald pool. The rock wall of Cascade de Sillans is moss covered and has the shape of a big stalactite.
From the A8 drive to Draguignan and there take the D557>D560 to Pont de Lorgues (at the roundabout before Draguignan). Follow the D560 until you arrive at Sillans-la-Cascade.
From the parking in Sillans-la-Cascade it is a 20 minute walk through grassland and a forrest. In the beginning also suitable for a buggy but the second part tough for children with a buggy, but the walk is for the rest easy to do. There is also a shorter trail starting from a bend in road 560, but there is no parking within 200 meters (picture map by www.openstreetmap.org).
The village Sillans-la-Cascade is worthwhile a visit. Beside that there is a beautiful waterfall, it is also a picturesque village with some old buildings.
The only other waterfall nearby Cascade de Sillan is located near Draguignan: Cascade Saut du Caplan
