Cascade de la Fouge
Cascade de la Fouge is gorgeous photogenic waterfall near Châtillon-de-Cornelle (Cerdon) in the region Ain, France. The waterfall is quite unknown and one of teh better waterfalls to visit in the region Ain.
Cascade de la Fouge can be reached via a path that starts at ‘route de Corlier – road D12’ or from a path at ‘Preau – D11’. The shortest way is from road D12 (gps 46.047366, 5.479599). It is possible to park your car along the road although there is no official parking. The path is clearly visible. At the beginning you descent 180 meters over 1 kilometer. The last 600 meter the path is almost flat following the river. The walk will take appr. 25 minutes and isn’t difficult.
The second option is to start south of Preau at the official parking for cascade de la Fouge (gps 46.061351, 5.459512). From here it is a 2,7 kilometer walk following the river Bief de la Fouge to the east for 2,7 kilometer, with an elevation of 110 meter. The walk will take appr. 50 minutes and isn’t difficult.
With warm weather, don’t forget to take your swimming gear with you. There is a nice pool in front of the 50 meter high waterfall where you can cool down.
