Cascades du Flumen
Cascades du Flumen is an amazing triple waterfall in the beautiful Gorges du Flumen near Saint Claude in the region Haute Jura, France.
From Saint Claude drive south over the d436 but turn right to Gorges du Flumen (D290), a small road going down. After crossing the river there is a road to the left, but I am not sure if it is allowed to drive further here. I found a map where there is a small parking after a few hundred meters (gps 46.364375, 5.879039). Otherwise you can park the car somehwere in Le Matinete and walk along the river Flumen to the waterfalls in 40-50 minutes (2,7 kilometer).
There is also a small trail starting at the d436: after Montbrilland and after the tunnel there is small trail right. You have to drive a little bit further for a parking spot for 1 car. It is shorter (900 meters), but also more difficult with a descent of 100 meters.
The river Flumen cascade down over 20 meters creating 3 waterfalls next to each other, a triple waterfall: unique in France. After heavy rainfall the waterfalls can be very impressive, but gorges du Flumen is always a visit worthwhile because of its beauty.
