Cascade des Combes

Cascade des Combes is a nice photogenic waterfall near Saint-Claude in the Jura, France. The waterfall si easy to access from the main road.

In Saint-Claude Centre follow the sign for Morzin over road D437>D69. After 5 minutes (2,4 kilometer) there is a small parking at the right side of road D69 (gps 46.402728, 5.878545). It is a popular spot, so the parking can be very crowded! From the parking (go right to the trailhead) )it is a few minutes walk to the base of Cascade des Combes. There is a picnic area and with nice weather this looks like the perfect place for a lunch.

Although the waterfall is only appr. 8 meter tall, it is a very special waterfall. The water of Ruisseau de l’Abîme seems to come out of the mountain wall. I love to go there one day when there is enough water in the waterfall (after a rainy period).
