Cascata del Ferro

Cascata del Ferro is a nice looking waterfall at the entry of the Valle de Mello in the north of Italy, near San Martino in the region Lombardia.

From Morbegno drive to Val Marsino. At San Martino go right onto a small road to refugio Mello. There are signs but there is also a sign “prohibited for cars” and one that says that you can buy a permit for €5.

I think you have to park your car in San Martino at the big parking (gps 46.238619, 9.632347). I read that in summertime a shuttlebus is going from the parking into Valle di Mello every 15 minutes (€2 for adults from June 1 to September 1)). The shuttle bus brings you into the valley to a parking lot. From here it is a 10-15 minute walk along the river to the waterfall Cascata del Ferro.

An unnamed torrent cascades down over multiple stage with a descent over 150 meters. Cascata del Ferro is a low volume waterfall but fantastic to see in a beautiful surrounding. In some period the waterfall can be more impressive when there is a lot of snow melting.
