Cascata del Fontanone di Goriuda

Cascata del Fontanon di Goriuda is a gorgeous waterfall in Valle Raccolana in the region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy.

Cascata del Fontanon di Goriuda is located almost directly along road sp76 between Chiusaforte and Cave del Predil. When driving from Chiusaforte there is a parking after 11 km at Pian della Sega (gps 46.395345, 13.434840). You can already see the waterfall at the right side of the road, in the distance.

From the parking it is a 10 minute walk to the base of Cascata del Fontanon di Goriuda. The walk isn’t difficult and the views are awesome. Arrived at the base of Cascata del Fontanon di Goriuda you see a big cave where the waterfall drops down. You can walk behind the waterfall when taking the path to the cave.

Cascata del Fontanon di Goriuda drops down over appr. 80 meter but the last part is a single dop of appr. 40-50 meter. The pool in front of the waterfall is very beautiful to see but the water is very cold. All year around the water temperature is 5C. 

Cascata del Fontanon di Goriuda is known as the waterfall of the sun and the legend says that there live dwarfs in the cave.
