Rhaeadr Mawddach
Rhaeadr Mawddach is a small waterfall in the river Afon Mawddach located in the Coed y Brenin forest (Snowdonia), which means forest of the kings.
From the Tyddyn Gwladys car park in Ganllwyd (at road A470) a beautiful trail starts. The trail is part of the Goldmines trail and follows the river Afon Mawddach until you reach the waterfall Rhaeadr Mawddach after appr 60 minutes (4,5 kilometer).
Rhaeadr Mawddach is a might waterfall (after rainfall) that drop down over 35 meters in three jumps. I have seen video on youtube when people go down in a canoe, great to see.
Although Rhaeadr Mawddach waterfall isn’t as high as Pistyll Cain (waterfall), the volume is much bigger. Pistyll Cain is located near the Rhaeadr Mawddach in the river that runs to the west, Afon Gain. Pistyll is Welsh word for waterfall.
