The Ringeriksfossen is the unofficial name of a waterfall with a total height of 450 meters. The Ringeriksfossen is located at the Hattebergsdalen, near Rosendal (municipality Kvinnherad), in the region Hordaland, Norway.
From Rosendal there is a small road going into the Hattebergsdalen. If it is allowed you almost can drive to the base of the Ringeriksfossen. From Rosendal this is a 4,5 kilometer drive to the end of the road (gps 59.970822, 6.063058). There is no official parking but you can try to find a parking spot.
From a distance you already have a good view on the waterfall. The water of the river Ringerike drops down over several stages from which the highest drop is approximately 100 meters.
As far I can see there is a trail starting south of the river which leads up the mountain to the top of the Ringeriksfossen. There is a really gorgeous viewpoint at the north side of the river from a rock that is located a little above the waterfall. To get there (not easy) take the trail at the south side of the river that runs paralel to the river. A steep trail ascending over 400 meter! At the top of the waterfall you have to follow the trail a little further keeping left going around the smaller lake. It is a detour but if you want a nice view (gps somewhere near 59.9739754, 6.0797211)!
A little bit further towards Sunndal you will find one of the widest waterfalls of Norway, the Furebergsfossen. When time left also get hiking in the Bonhusdalen/Bondhusvatnet where you can find several waterfalls: Kroksfossen and the Brufossen.
