Salt de Sallent (Rupit)
(El Sallent)
Salt de Sallent is one of the more impressive waterfalls in Spain and is located near Rupit in the region Catalonia.
Salt de Sallent is not far away from Gerona (90 km) and can be reached by driving from Gerona taking road c25 near Sils. Near Vic you have to take the exit to Rupit onto road C153. The drive take at least 90 minutes.
From the village you can walk to the top of Salt de Sallent in 30 minutes. The walk is pleasant and there is shade on the track. I also saw a car at the top of the waterfall, so probably you also can drive to the waterfall. There are several viewpoint with a good view on the waterfall. It is also possible to descent to the base of the waterfall from the east side of the top. It is a small path. More information of the trail can be found on Wikiloc.
Salt de Sallent can be a very impressive and powerful waterfall after heavy rainfall but can also run dry. Best period to visit the waterfall is probably autumn or early spring.
Note: there is also another waterfall with the same name “Salt de Sallent” more to the north, near the hamlet of Sant Privat d’en Bas (Olot), also in the region of Catalonia.
