Winnerfall

The Winnerfall is a long stretched waterfall south of Winklau/Oberscheffau in the region Salzburg, Austria.

From Winklau there are signs pointing to the Winnerfall. The trail is called Mühlenwanderweg and the walk is easy. The trial leads through a forrest and you will approach the Winnerfall somewhere in the middle part of the waterfall. Here you will have  a good view on part of the river Schwarzbach thundering down the mountain. The walk to the Winnerfall takes about 20 minutes starting from Winklau.

We where at the Winnerfall years ago in may, but that was to early in the season. The trail was slippery and climbing down was dangerous. The lower part of the Winnerfall was only visible from the top and the upper part was not visible. I have seen better and nice pictures.

The Winnerfall is a karstic waterfall and is fed by a natural spring just up at the Winnerfall. This picture was taken in May at the source of the Schwarzbach river. A walk up to the spring is worthwhile to do.

Best time to visit the Winnerfall is probably in the early summer although I also have seen pictures from april an October with a nice Winnerfall.
