Bärglifall

The Bärglifall is a nice waterfall at the north shore of the Oeschinensee near Kandersteg in the region Berner Oberland, Switzerland.

The Oeschinensee is a very popular destination by tourists and a nice are to make short or long hikes. Near the camping site in Kandersteg a cable car is going up to the Oeschinensee and Bärglifall. When walking along the south shore of the Oeschinensee you can see the Bärglifall at the other end of the lake.

The Bärglifall is falling down from the mountain Dündenhorn (2.862 m) and is also fed with melted ice and snow from the glacier Blüemlisalpgletscher that runs up to 3.661 meter.

I missed this waterfall when visiting Switzerland May 2005. Maybe because it was to early in the season and there wasn’t much water flowing in the river Oberbärglibach. There are so many waterfall in the Kandersteg and Kiental region that I had to stay longer to explore them all.

Nevertheless, visiting the Oeschinensee was one of the highlights of my visit to Switzerland, not only because of all those waterfalls, but also because of the astonishing beauty of nature.

Not far from Kandersteg there is another valley at Adelboden with awesome waterfalls. One of the best waterfalls to visit is the Engstligenfall with a total height of 415 meter.

If you want to see more great waterfall you can drive further to Lenk. There are several other great waterfalls near Lenk but the most famous one is the Simmenfälle. From here you can walk to several other great waterfalls but Siebenbrunnen is a gorgeous karstic waterfall.
