Cascade du Cot
(Cascade du Maillant)
Cascade du Cot (or Cascade du Maillant) is a unofficial named waterfall and is located along road D922, in the direction of cirque du Troumouse. Cirque du Troumouse is a circus created by glaciers and has a diameter of 4 kilometer. Cirque du Troumouse is located southeast of Gedre in the region Midi Pyrenees/Haute Pyrenees, France.
At Auberge le Maillet (gps 42.736380, 0.086468) you will have a nice view on the waterfall in the distance, when looking to the southeast. There is no official trial to the waterfall but you can walk towards the base of Cascade du Cot.
The river Cot thunders down with great force and tries to find its way through a narrow gap in the mountains. In springtime a lot of snow melts and feeds the river Cot.
There is another waterfall near the auberge that is hard to notice but very near. From the parking walk to the buildings behind the auberge. Go a little left (on a path) and you should see another waterfall.
Nearby you can find the more famous cirque du Gavarnie with one of the highest waterfalls in France.
