Cascata del Pesegh
Cascata del Pesegh is an unknown 24 meter single drop waterfall near Brinzio in the region Lombardia, Italy.
In the summer of 2024 I was staying in Vallemaggia (Switzerland) chasing waterfalls in the valley. Unfortunately a disaster happened on June 30: due to extreme rainfall parts of the upper Vallemaggia where whipped away causing a lot of damage and casualties. So I had to find other nice places with waterfalls, so I discovered Cascata del Pesegh.
From Vallemaggia it is 75 minute drive along lago Maggiore (very beautiful road) before I entered Brinzio over road sp62. There is no official parking at the trailhead (gps 45.89083, 8.78153) but I parked my car in the grass along the road. I think it is better to park your car somewhere in Brinzio. I walked back up the road to the trailhead where a path descends down to a viewing point from above. Cascata del Pesegh isn’t clearly visible from here but further down you will have a great view.
So I descended further down to a ruin (abandoned houses) and walked further down to the river. The path here is sometimes a little tricky because bad weather whipped away the path a little. The trail isn’t very difficult but you must be aware how and where to walk. Always be careful because it can be slippery.
Soon I reached the base of the waterfall and I had a awesome view. Cascata del Pesegh was still in the shadow but the sun tried to find its way through the trees which was quite nice to see (at 11.30 a.m.) I was the only person in the woods and I don’t think many people did find their way to the waterfall.
